The House GOP broke into chaotic in-fighting on Thursday over a pair of failed resolutions from Wednesday.
Womack, R-Ark., had made a joke about the Santos expulsion resolution that failed on Wednesday night.
‘Last night, the House saw its shadow. Unfortunately, this means there will be two more weeks of Santos,’ Womack wrote on X.
‘Your son is a felon,’ Santos shot back.
Embattled Rep. George Santos went after fellow Republican Rep. Steve Womack’s son for his drug addiction
Womack, R-Ark., had made a joke about the Santos expulsion resolution that failed on Wednesday night
‘He has been in and out of the prison system for years. He is a drug dealer, poisoning people on the streets with meth and unlawful possession of a gun. Instead of being home, taking care of your son, you’re sitting pretty in the swamp. Listen, I have been respectful of my colleagues through this process but I’m sick and tired of people with glass houses casting stones at me.’
Santos linked a local news article about Womack’s 37-year-old son James pleading guilty to charges that included distributing more than five grams of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm as a felon. He faces up to 40 years’ imprisonment.
More Democrats voted to keep Santos than Republicans to get rid of him: 24 Republicans voted to expel Santos while 31 Democrats, including top Oversight Democrat Jamie Raskin, crossed over party lines and voted not to oust the New York Republican.
Four Republicans and 15 Democrats voted ‘present’ on the measure.
At the same time Reps. Chip Roy and Marjorie Taylor Greene came to blows over Greene’s resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
Greene called Roy ‘Colonel Sanders’ and Roy poked fun at Greene for ‘Jewish space lasers.’
The House voted 222-186 to table the motion, with 23 Republicans joining all Democrats in killing the measure.
‘This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communist Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable,’ Greene said on X. ‘PATHETIC.’
Roy, who voted against Greene’s resolution, called it ‘deeply flawed’ and full of ‘legally and factually unverified claims.’
He took issue with Greene’s resolution accusing Tlaib of inciting an ‘insurrection,’ referring to a protest last month where 300 Palestinian activists were arrested at the Capitol.
‘We should not continue to perpetuate claims of “insurrection” at the Capitol and we should not abuse the term now,’ Roy said.
‘Oh shut up Colonel Sanders. You’re not even from Texas, more like the DMV’ Greene said, calling Roy the KFC founder and pointing out he was raised in the suburbs of DC.
‘Chip Roy’s career exist of working for politicians, working for campaigns for politicians, and being a politician himself. Unity Party all the way! Which is why you will never hold anyone accountable.’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tore into her Republican colleagues who voted against her resolution to censure Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib for her anti-Semitic comments
Greene authored a resolution seeking to censure Tlaib, the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, for her anti-Israel comments, including calling for a ceasefire after Hamas terrorists attacked the Jewish nation
Greene accused Roy of working to kick her out of Freedom Caucus, instead of ‘CNN wannabe’ Ken Buck, R-Colo., and ‘vaping, groping Lauren Boebert.’
Her reference to Boebert’s ‘vaping’ and ‘groping’ follows footage emerging of the Colorado lawmaker taking selfies, dancing wildly in her seat and vaping during a musical performance after denying doing so and claiming the vapor was stage fog.
‘You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted,’ Greene wrote on X.
Speaking with a reporter for The Hill, Roy responded to Greene’s criticism with: ‘Tell her to go chase so-called Jewish space lasers if she wants to spend time on that sort of thing.’
In 2018, Greene made a lengthy Facebook post claiming that the wealthy Jewish Rothschild family used space lasers to spark the California wildfires.
